Challenge
The client needed a safe, medically certified digital platform to support heart monitoring during patient rehabilitation. Building it for the Swiss market meant strict adherence to healthcare regulations and data protection standards. But with this challenge, the development team had several other goals:
Ensuring smooth and accurate integration with FHIR-based systems.
Creating a dynamic front end with rich animations and multi-screen navigation.
Developing a robust GraphQL API tailored for handling complex clinical data structures.
Setting up Azure infrastructure to meet compliance requirements.
Developing a custom testing framework using screenshots and Cucumber to validate the UI across devices.
Implementing user-key-based encryption to protect sensitive health data.
Ensuring long-term stability and optimal performance throughout the app’s lifecycle.
Solution
The development team built the entire mobile application using Flutter to create a medically compliant digital rehabilitation platform.
The front end featured multi-screen navigation, real-time cardiac metric tracking, and interactive visuals. We also used Lottie to build engaging animations and enhance user focus.
Seamless integration with Apple HealthKit and Health Connect enabled efficient synchronization and analysis of user health metrics. We implemented a GraphQL server on the backend, which was explicitly designed to handle clinical records. With this step, we could achieve smooth clinic integration and compatibility with the Swiss medical infrastructure.
For the cloud, we used Microsoft Azure due to its certification readiness and simplified adherence to EU and Swiss healthcare regulations. CI/CD pipelines were automated using GitHub Actions and Fastlane, enabling safe and frequent deployments.
To support quality and compliance, we developed a custom QA framework combining Cucumber (Gherkin) scenarios and screenshot-based regression testing. So, we managed to achieve consistency in app behavior across devices.
Data security was achieved through end-to-end encryption using user-specific keys, fully protecting sensitive health information throughout the user journey.
Impact
The delivered solution helped the client turn their app into a certified tool used in Swiss rehab clinics. We enabled smooth adoption in the clinical environment by streamlining health data integration and ensuring regulatory alignment. The automation of testing and deployment significantly cut release times and reduced errors. With strong data protection, the platform earned user trust and met strict healthcare security standards.
