Challenge
Our Client started constructing another hotel with a strong focus on technology-powered suites. They wanted to turn each room into a smart home, with all the electronic devices managed from a single place. Therefore, they asked Four Ages to design and implement a mobile app for their IoT project so that guests could monitor and control amenities in their suites.
Solution
Four Ages, in close collaboration with the Client, started developing a universal platform that would gather data from in-suite IoT devices in real-time. First, our engineers created the mobile app architecture and mockup designs for the Client to check. Once they were approved, we proceeded to the development and implementation of the project.
We used the Flutter framework for efficient cross-platform development for iOS and Android devices. Our engineers integrated AWS cloud infrastructure to support the system's instantaneous requirements and handle large volumes of data from devices. They have also designed firmware in C++ to ensure data flow between IoT devices and the cloud. Such kind of architecture enables immediate interactions between smart home devices, backend services, and the user interface.
Impact
As a result, the IoT app provides users with real-time control over in-suite appliances. That way, guests can manage air conditioning, TV, curtains, and lights directly from their smartphones. We have also incorporated some additional in-app features to enhance the user experience. These include chatting with hotel staff members, notifications, reminders, and useful information about the local area.
